In this project, I created a package of Tea for the exhibition of EricCarl, a well-known picture book author and artist.

Details of the works

Taking a cue from Eric Carl’s masterpiece “The very hungry caterpillar,” I created the apple and strawberry-flavoured tea packaging based on the story in the picture book.

The illustration of the strawberry and apple on the package has a hole in it, and just like in the picture book, when the lid is opened, the illustration changes to show a caterpillar going through the hole in the fruit.

Because the story in the picture book is about a caterpillar that eventually becomes a butterfly, the tea bag folder is designed with a butterfly, and when the tea bag is opened, the butterfly appears.

The dot pattern on the side and the logo on the top were created in Photoshop and blended to represent the cutouts that symbolise Erica Carl’s work.

I made the blueprints, printed them out, and then actually assembled and packaged them.

The logo for the exhibition was created by combining images of caterpillars and picture books.
