Over view

In this project, I created three illustrations containing five randomly assigned images.

My words were:
1- Jack the Ripper
2- Vermilion
3- Mt. Vesuvius
4- Bacon
5- 44

Themes and outcomes of each illustration

I chose the theme for each illustration first and created the illustrations because simply including the five images would not have a clear purpose.

At the end of the process, I modified each illustration into a book cover. In addition, I created a story using chat GTP and attached it to the back cover of the book as a synopsis.

1. Wisdom

I created a mystery novel cover on the theme of Wisdom, the word Wisdom being taken from the angel number 44.
The owl was used as the main image to symbolise wisdom, and the other words were incorporated into the background and colours. The font for the title was also chosen to match the mystery novel.

The lost town

2. Toxic

I created a cover for a suspense novel on the theme of “toxic”, taking the word Toxic from cinnabar (Vermilion), a mineral that is primarily composed of mercury sulfide, which is poisonous.

I used buzzaholic as the image of Toxic and added images of gossip circulating over the phone and Snow White’s poisoned apple.

The font used for the title was selected and modified to remind of telephone wires.

Toxic-secret

3. Horror

I created a cover for a horror novel on the theme of Horror, the word Horror being inspired by the word Jack the Ripper.

The main image was pasta, a speciality of Italy, where Mt.Vesuvius is located, and was modified to fit the horror story.

The font used for the title was chosen to match the horror novel.

Dinner

Process of work

I created moodboards for each of the randomly assigned words, and then I drew up a mind map of words that I could associate with each word to develop the image.
